01
Preparing the Materials
Materials Needed |Ornamental Plaster Powder 1kg 1ea, 23. Country Maple Acrylic Paint 2oz (59ml) 1ea,
Hexagon Pillar Coaster Silicone Mold (2-Cavities) 1ea, A Day at the Spa Fragrance Oil 20ml,
Olive Liquid 100ml, Rubber Bowl & Spatula Set 1ea, Glass Rod 1ea,Glass Beaker 25ml 1ea,Perfumery Electronic Scale 0.01g/500g 1ea,Versatile Metal Pick 2mm x 15cm, water
02
Measuring Fragrance Oil and Olive Liquid
For 100g of plaster powder, use 30-35g of water, 10g of fragrance, and 10g of olive liquid.Fragrance production ratio when using our ornament plaster powder
(Approx. 190 grams per hexagonal pillar coaster plaster)
Fragrance oil 12.5g : Olive liquid 12.5g : Plaster powder 124.7g : Water 40.5g
03
Mixing
Stir the fragrance oil and olive liquid for about 1 minute in one direction using a glass rod to ensure they are well mixed. (Olive liquid acts as a solubilizer, helping the oil and plaster mixture blend evenly.)
04
Measuring Water and Ornament Plaster Powder
Place the rubber bowl on the scale and reset it to zero. First, measure 40.5g of water, then reset the scale to zero again and measure 124.7g of ornament plaster powder.
05
Making the Plaster Mixture
Use a spatula to stir the mixture thoroughly for about 1 minute until it becomes a smooth dough.
If the mixture is too thick, add small amounts of water and mix well to avoid clumping.
06
Add the Fragrance Oil and Olive Liquid
Add the pre-mixed fragrance oil and olive liquid to the dough, and stir thoroughly for about 1 minute until all the ingredients are fully combined into a smooth mixture.
07
Add Acrylic Paint
Plaster can be colored with 'pigment powder' and 'acrylic paint'.In this DIY content, we will introduce how to make colors using acrylic paints that are easy to create marbled patterns.* Tip) When creating colors with pigment powder, mix the gypsum powder and pigment powder first, then add water to make the colors more evenly mixed. The color will be darker when you add water, so add a small amount of pigment powder to check the color.
08
Creating a Marble Pattern
Use a pointed metal pick to connect the dots of acrylic paint and create a marble pattern. When using the metal pick, avoid mixing the acrylic paint deeply into the plaster mixture; instead, lightly swirl the paint to achieve the effect.
09
Pouring into the Mold
After checking that the silicone mold is free of any foreign substances, pour the mixed colored plaster mixture from the rubber bowl into the mold. Divide the mixture in half and pour the first half into the mold. Gently tap the sides of the mold with your hands to ensure the mixture spreads evenly without any air bubbles. Then, pour the remaining mixture into the mold as the second layer.
10
Removing Air Bubbles
After pouring the plaster mixture into the mold, gently drop the mold up and down several times to allowthe bubbles to rise to the top and ensure the mixture fills the bottom and the surface becomes level.
Avoid hitting the bottom of the mold too hard, as it may push the bubbles back in.
Instead, tap gently multiple times to remove the air bubbles.
11
Demolding
Once the plaster has completely hardened, press the sides of the mold to release the air before removing it.When demolding, hold the mold, not the plaster piece, to separate it.
12
Finishing Up
The mocha-mousse colored marble plaster tray is now complete. If needed, use sandpaper or other tools to smooth the surface.
