Cistus oil is a complex natural oil known for its weighty base note.
It combines fresh, spicy, warm, and smooth ambergris notes with deep leather, earthy undertones, and balsamic accents.
Cistus oil emits a robust scent even in small amounts and blends well with woody, spicy, and weighty floral notes.
Alternatively, blending it with fresh citrus and herbal notes can create an aromatic perfume base.
In aromatherapy, it's used for respiratory relief and invigorating the body through deep breathing.
Characteristics of CW Cistus Natural Essential Oil
Cistus essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of Cistus Ladnaiferus, a shrub species native to the Mediterranean coast. As the fragrant part of the plant is not the flowers but the sticky resin on the leaves and stems, the oil is obtained by distilling the resin. The extract obtained by solvent extraction of Cistus Ladnaiferus is called labdanum absolute, which has a sweeter and more balsamic fragrance, while the oil distilled by steam has a more complex scent. It also has the advantage of being easier to handle due to its solubility.
