Make a Rose Candle

Make a unique rose candle using gel wax

In honor of May, the queen of flowers, we've created a rose candle with a unique twist.

We've used gel wax to represent rose leaves and an elaborate rose mold to recreate a single rose.

We've also added a fragrance oil to the gel wax that won't cloud over, so you can smell the scent of roses.

Representing rose leaves in a glass container

02-1. Attaching a wick to a glass
Prepare the 240 ml Italian Goblet Wide with Rose Leaves by attaching a white cotton wick No. 4 to it.

* Wick tab sticker (roll product) was used to attach the wick.

02-2. Using Gel Wax to Make Rose Leaves

Measure out and melt 50 grams of clear gel wax Super HP to represent rose petals in an Italy Goblet Wide 240ml.

* The amount of gel wax can be fluid depending on the size of the container, and will harden as you use it, so it's best to be generous.

02-3. Tinting the Rose Leaves

Tint with green pigment chips when the melted wax is above 120 to 130 degrees Celsius.

* You can use solid colors or fat-soluble liquid dyes,
but we used pigment chips to ensure that they don't migrate over time.

02-4. Expressing Rose Leaves in a Container

Warm the container with a heat tool and fill it to about 1.5 cm from the bottom of the container when the temperature of the colored gel wax is between 110 and 120℃. Immediately rotate the container and swirl the colored gel wax around to get the rose petals where you want them. The gel wax hardens quickly, so you need to keep the temperature high to blend the colors well.

Create a base using Soy Wax

03-1. Measuring the wax
Measure out and melt approximately 80 grams of Ecosoya Soy Wax (for the container).
If you want the soy wax (base) to be taller, measure out more wax.

03-2. Adding Fragrance Oil

When the temperature of the melted wax is around 65℃,
add about 8 grams of fragrance oil, which is 10% of 80 grams of wax, and stir well.

* In the photo, we used Red Roses Fragrance Oil, a rose-scented oil that can be mixed with gel wax.

03-3. Pouring into a container

When the temperature of the flavored soy wax is 60-65℃, pour it into a container.

Use Beeswax to Make a Rose Candle

04-1. Preparing the WaxTo make 1 large rose flower mold, measure out and melt approximately 50 grams of white refined beeswax.

04-2. Tinting the Rose

At a temperature of around 95℃, add a small amount of blush pink pigment chips to tint the desired rose color.

04-3. Pouring into the Rose Mold

Heat the silicone mold with a heat tool, and when the wax temperature is around 85-90 degrees,
fill the mold to the top with rose color wax.
Once the wax expression has hardened a bit, gently run a metallic pick around to create the wick holes and allow to harden completely.

Assemble and Finish the Rose Candle

Once the rose candle is fully hardened, use a metal pick to poke through the wick's hole.
Place in a glass container with rose leaves to complete the rose candle.
